Gimlet
I am the newest member of the Tansi-Cats. I appeared in the neighborhood sometime in November of 1999. I was very friendly, and really cute, so all of the neighbors paid a lot of attention to me. It became apparent that I had been someone's kitten, because I was well mannered and I walked right into any house with an open door. No one could imagine why anyone would put me out 'cause I am the sweetest little kitten that you could ever meet. (That is why the lady who became my new Meowmie started calling me "Sugarplum" when I was still outside)

I didn't have it too bad outside, since there was cat food out at the neighbor's house for their tomcat---I just dug right in and joined him in gobbling down his food. My now Meowmie also put out some food for me, and I had the heated ground level birdbath from which to drink. When it started to get a little colder, My now Meowmie put out a box for me to sleep in, and she even wrapped it with an old insulated jacket so I could keep even warmer. That was important because we live in the Midwest, and it can get kind of cold here in the winter.

I would come inside whenever I could. I was really good at scooting right inside before anyone could stop me. Once inside, I just made myself at home. I found that there was cat food in that house, so I just helped myself to it! The lady really wanted me to have another home, so she kept making me go back outside before she went to bed at night. She already had five cats, and really thought that they were enough. Can you imagine anyone thinking that only five cats would be enough?! She decided to find out if I knew how to use a litter box, and, of course, I did. After that she started thinking that maybe six cats would be ok after all. It was starting to get colder outside (we had been having a mild winter to that point), so, when I came into the house on December 16, 1999, I stayed inside for good!

I have been to the vet for my immunizations and for the necessary surgery so that I can comply with the Zero Population Growth rule in this household. My scar has healed nicely, and my hair is starting to grow back in. I think that I will be back to normal in no time at all. I get along with most of the other kitties in this house. My Meowmie has been buying kitten food for me, but I am having a terrible time trying to keep the other cats out of it! I think that by the time I am a year old, and big enough to eat "big kitty" food, that my brofurs and sisfurs will be as fat as pigs from eating all of the extra calories that are in the kitten food!

I think that I am going to get along very well in my new home. I have explored nearly every nook and cranny of the house, and have started carving out some of my favorites. I really like sleeping on the futon in the basement, or on the waterbed with the other kitties. I love sitting, or lounging in the windows so I can see everything that goes on outside. I am small enough that I can recline on any of the window sills without falling off, and that is something that some of my "full figured" housemates can't do as easily. I really like to help Meowmie play on the pooter, too---I know that I am a BIG help to her!
